Some years ago my father decided to record some of his childhood memories.
He produced a slim volume of recollections which I have read and reread many times.
They always make two opposing impressions on me: how much things changed in his lifetime, and how much they are still the same.
I recently asked him if he would let me share them on the daily mull, and he graciously agreed.
Here is the prologue he penned for them:
The recollections recorded in this
document are just that, memories as best I
can recall. Incidents have been recorded
in random order as they came to mind.
I have attempted to group early childhood
recollections within specific ranges of time
(i.e. preschool, Grades 1-5, Grades 6-8 and
High School (9-12).
I believe the recounting to be completely
accurate in most cases, however, certain
dates and events may deviate slightly
because of the inevitable clouding of
memory due to the ravages of time.
